Star Trek: Eventide 777

Out in the distance a small ship jumped out in the distance followed by its twin. The science ensign flying it wasn't all that great of a pilot but he was good enough to dock the ship and begin running through his post flight checklist. The electrical system weren't running fully optimal levels and the controls were a little bit sticky but generally the ship was in nearly perfect condition. Both ships were old but the Viola had recently undergone renovation, giving her a sleek ascetic. Finally the science ensign stepped out and signed off on the ship for the next mission.

Ken walked onto the bridge of the Viola. When he had gotten the announcement, he made his way here as soon as possible. He was an astrophysicist after all, so this was quite exciting for him. Even if he didn't show it.

Jack strolled onto the bridge just a few minutes after Ken. He was hyperfixated on the ship as he began running through a checklist of his own. When he went to go flip a switch he noticed the nearby man. "Oh hello there..."

Hsarr stepped onto the bridge, looking around. Another mission, and hopefully this one didn't go the way the mission to an uncharted nebula had gone when they were on the Trailblazer. Long story short, they ended up resuscitating the CMO. So their hopes were high that that wouldn't happen here. They stood near the door, trying to figure out where they were stationed. The ship didn't have a sickbay, so there really wasn't anywhere obvious to go. Hmm.

"Afternoon, Ensign and Lieutenant." He said as he looked at the two before looking at the Ensign in front of him. "How are you doing today?"

"Hello there," Hsarr nodded, ears twitching. "I'm doing well! Excited for this mission, too. Medical doesn't get very much action most of the time," They admitted, laughing softly. "And you?"

He continued going about his checklist, he would probably run through some of it a second time just to make sure he didn't mess anything up. "Oh I'm allright..." He was distant through his hyperfixation on his work.

"I am well, thank you. Truth be told, I am rather excited to be here." And even though he said that, his voice remained the same emotionless tone it normally is, and his face? Stoic as always. "Discovering a new nebula is quite extraordinary, and not something you can do every other day. I am curious what secrets it holds."

A few moments after the announcement was made, Holly had entered the bridge of the Viola. She had never been on a Starfleet-assigned mission, but when word came spreading around that they were mapping a nebula she felt that she was perfect for this mission. She had spent the past few months working on mapping the area around the Starbase, and her credentials as a Stellar Cartographer meant she fit well into this assignment. She spoke to someone from Starfleet and they agreed to submit her for a potential candidate, and it looks like she was selected. Her civilian uniform looking standout-ish as juxtapositioned against the rest of the people wearing their Starfleet uniforms.

[D] Jessil entered the ship, having been a bit busy with her work from before she couldn't wait for the chance to get out and about now. It had been awhile since she had done things other than paperwork and so was just itching to get something done that didn't directly involve a PADD.

He smiled upon seeing Jessil enter, he finally broke away from the task at hand... there wasn't really much need for him to go through pre flight a third time anyways. "Jessil! It's great to see you again."

"Jack!" She waved a two fingered hand. It really is, I haven't seen yoy around lately. Been pretty busy with paperwork back in the security hub." Plus he was the helmsman of the ship and she was posted to the Starbase, so it made sense that they hadn't seen each other in a hot minute. It was nice to see him again though, Jes felt like she hadn't seen anyone in awhile.

[D] After everyone had boarded the commander arrived (anyone who was supposed to be on but hadn't arrived before was here) he smiled and placed a hand on the young helmsman back. "Let's kick this mission into gear, what do you all say?" He smiled. "There should be some truely wondrous views out there for all of you new ensigns."

Holly looked around nervously and with a bit of awkwardness, not knowing anyone, and definitely not knowing what to say.

"Excuse me, Commander, I have a question?" Hsarr said, smiling sheepishly at Myers. "If it's not too much trouble, I'm wondering where I'm supposed to be,"

Holly looked at the medical officer with her eyes opened, and then looked back towards the Commander. "Yeah.. me too..." she said quietly.

The commander spoke into his COMM. "Sebastion, Viola is ready to go follow us in to the first coordinates I marked off. From our preliminary investigations there's quite an interesting planet there we can have a look at." He tapped Jack's shoulder. "Allright take us out of here Ensign."

He nodded. "Sir, yes sir." He excitedly tapped on the engines and got the ship ready for flight. Immediately upon getting his clearance he began the flight out to the mark the commander had indicated.

The commander quickly turned around to look at the the two. He checked his head quickly. "Hsarr M'ow and... Holly Styre!" He smiled. "It'd great to meet both of you. Holly I wouldn't mind if you were by my side. You are quite knowledgeable on the subject. As for you doctor, I would suggest science but it is up to you."

"Alrighty! Perfect! Pleasure to meet you, as well," Hsarr smiled. "Well, I'll go get to my station. Thanks for choosing me for this mission, sir," They nodded, turning and walking out to get to science.

He gave a nod towards the Commander. "Commander, I believe my presence is best used here seeing my area of expertise." He said as he looked at the man.

He shrugged "sure you can come up here if you want but, most if the good equipment is in the science section, infact I was about to head over there myself soon."

"I would rather see the scans firsthand. I am versed enough in Astrophysics that I am able to use most formula's by heart. And to be frank, I have a lot experience in the field. I will manage." He said with a nod. To be honest? This man was just way too excited to witness this magnificent event.

[D] Commander Myers tapped on Jack's shoulder to signal him to stop. "This here is Meridian, it was a charted planet before hand and it was bearing fruit to sentient life. Starfleet is concerned that the formation of the Nebula could have effected the planets life so we are to quickly check in."

Meridian was a similar planet to Earth before but now it appears as though the sea level may have been lowered, the atmosphere at eye level appeared more dense than before though, life had survived worse in the past. Several volcanos had also gone on to be formed now giving it the appearance of almost a cross between Earth and Vulcan.

He quickly stepped out of the bridge to deliver a message to the science crew.

[D]Having stood right there on the bridge for a good chunk of the journey the Jem'hadar pursed his lips seeing the planet before them. From the mission brief he'd been given the impression that their destination was a teeming, flourishing planet. What he saw right now was so far off that image that he almost wanted to make the ensign at the helm check if they were where they were supposed to be.

He tapped the helmsmans shoulder. "Hey pal, let's go and move this ship here along over to the neighboring solar system or... what used to be a solar system. We found some odd stuff on this planet so be on the lookout for any radiation storms or debris fields." He did not give the helmsman any more context before returning to science. He figured the man would be more on edge that way.

[D] On his order Jack flew to where the neighboring sun used to be but had to stop a bit short... metal debris? He looked closer... and bodies. Jack visibly shook, there must've must've a whole ship or something up here before everything went crazy... what could've don't this. "Wh... people..."

She'd barely entered the bridge when she realized what was going on. First she silently studied what she could see outside the ship, before taking a short look around the bridge. Well this was... suboptimal. "I see, I gather scans would be appreciated? We're on it." With that she simply turned around and went back towards science.

[COMMs] "You guys are seeing this too, right?"

The commander yelled up to McLellan. "Go in a bit closer but have the Sebastion stay back. We want to see if we can piece together better what happened here.*

Jack hulped loudly before slowly flicking back on the engine and moving the ship forward at a slow and steady pace. After a few seconds an odd light came into place. An extremely bright, blinking blue light. He yelled back. "I've got a visual on some kind of blinking light... can a scientist come up here."

[COMMS] "Our doctor reckons there was some big electrical burst, like an EMP or something, on the ship or station or whatever all the debris was. The corpses look fried. You guys came to any similar conclusions? Please reply; it'd be great to confirm you're not all dead too."

The Lieutenant walked up to the bridge to see what Jack had been looking at. "Let's go and take a closer look... I'm sure nothing could go wrong." He may have been jinxing things by saying that but he knocked on the shuttle. Hopefully that would mitigate the light foreshadowing he may have just committed.

As the ship got closer he was able to get a clearer look at the blinking light thing. "You know that thing almost looks like..." He couldn't quite place his hands on what it quite looked like as the ship slowly moved in closer... oh it was one of the things he had heard about at the academy. Some kind of... Mine? Oh that's right that thing looks like an An EMP defence mine... wait... it is an EMP Defense mine. He said to himself suddenly. "Oh shit!" and then jerked the controls violently to the side... but he was too late... the mine went off.

Jack repeated to himself. "Shit, Shit, Shit..." He needed to divert now, find some place to put the rapidly shaking shuttle down... there was only one planet he might be able to make it to. He set heading to Meridian taking care to quickly send out a distress signal if he could get it out.

Jack fought to keep the ship stable as he forced the ship into high gear. He grunted as he used all of his strength to force the controls into a balance. Then he entered the atmosphere. He attempted to force on the hover systems... only one quarter power was flowing through them. Barely enough to keep any of the crew alive if they landed at this rate.

The commander was busying himself by weaping... what would happen to his wife... and his son that had just joined starfleet academy. Were they going to be okay without him. "Were gonna die..." He cried to himself.

Jack winced as his muscles hurt from forcing the controls. "Not... if... I.. have... anything... to say... about it..." He used one of his hands to attempt to get more of the hover systems working though his left arm struggled from the weight of balancing the ship. "Hovering system up to 40%... Flaring to reduce speed..." He raised his voice so those in the back could hear. "Brace for impact."
